I’ve been a bit neglectful of the blogging community for the last few days but for a good reason! My 2nd nephew was born yesterday morning! He’s so sweet and I’ve got lots of cuddles in already. I’m working a 12hour day today so I can spend tons of time with him this weekend. Being an auntie is the best, I can spoil them rotten and then send them home to their mother 🙂
Have a great weekend everyone 🙂
Alright! My bags are packed and I’m heading out again this afternoon. I’m fortunate enough that when I go to functions for work my hotel, mileage, food, and everything is paid for so it doesn’t eat up my own money. Just time and sanity.
I hate to admit it but I’ve fallen into a bad habit that many Canadians fall into at one point in their lives or another. It’s roll up the rim season. Sure, at first it was a coffee here or a hot chocolate there but now it’s turned into a breakfast every morning type of deal. I have been luckier this RUTR season than I have in the past but what a hard habit to break!
What are some great breakfasts to grab from home and go?
Here it is! My monthly debt update. I’m happy that Visa is back under the 4K mark but a bit nervous as my car inspection and registration are coming up next month. Hopefully my savings account will be able to get me through both.
Debt as of February 18th, 2015
Student Line of CREDIT: $8,651.68
I hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day. BF and I had a great day together. Woke up and had breakfast and exchanged gifts. Usually we don’t do too much, I got him beer and scratch tickets and he got me flowers and a fitbit. I’m having fun figuring out all the different things my fitbit can do. I really dislike the rubber strap (don’t tell BF!) so I went online and found a silver bangle bracelet on sale on Etsy that covers the band and looks like a normal bangle. We went to my nephew’s 2nd birthday party and then out for dinner with friends.
I have been traveling for work a lot so I haven’t been home very much this month which has been making it difficult to pack my lunches and bring them for work. I’ll be away Friday this week and then again Tuesday next week. Hopefully by Thursday they’ll let me stay in the city for a while because that’s when my new nephew is due! I can’t wait for the little guy to make his appearance.
Any tips for eating on the road?
Here I am once again hunkered down in a snow storm. The city has pulled the plows off of the roads due to white out conditions and I can’t see myself getting out of the driveway today! On days like today I always have good intentions of getting so many things done like laundry, a work out, organize my closet, get a few posts written and ready to go. It never seems to work out that way though. So far I’ve watched a movie, taken a shower, watched a few episodes of gossip girl, made a smoothie and now here I am! To be honest I’m currently re-starting Once Upon A Time because how could a book lover like me not get into a show with a title like that! In honor of the occasion I thought I’d share a few of my favorite reads with all of you!
The inspiration for this post came when I stumbled upon Amanda’s 10 Books That Left an Impression on Me check it out!
1.I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith
One year for Christmas a good friend of mine walked into a bookstore and found the biggest novel on the sale table (we were about 14 so you know, funds were limited). This booked into my go-to feel good book. Break ups, bad grades, bad colds, nothing ever seems as bad after I finish re-reading the story of Cassandra and her broken down castle of a home.
2. The Harry Potter Series
Obviously. How could you not love them? I plan on re-reading these bad boys after my retirement from my part time job. It doesn’t matter how old I get, I still love these books and have been known from time to time to call my boyfriend a muggle when he’s being impossible.
3. Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
This was a tough one. Really I love anything by Jane Austen but Sense and Sensibility was the first one I read and the first one I fell in love with. Since then I’ve read each Austen book as well as many books written by fans about Elizabeth and Mr.Darcy as well as many other characters from Austen’s novels.
4. Anything by Nora Roberts
I spent years teasing my sister for readying romance novels. The one summer laying by the pool I picked one up and haven’t put them down since. I’m mostly into the trilogy’s and series. Tons of the books are set in Ireland which is somewhere I’ve always wanted to visit.
5. A High End Finish by Kate Carlisle
Ok so maybe this is a favorite by proxy. I finished it a few days ago but I really enjoyed the main character Stephanie Hammer (a contractor..lol!) and went out and bought another of her books (I know, I know…no buying books! You don’t need them! You have a whole bookcase of books you haven’t read yet!). I do recommend it for an easy girly read though if that’s what you’re in the market for.
What are you reading?
Here I am! Still alive under all of the snow. As I mentioned earlier this week I had been nominated for a Liebster Award by All Around Better Me. I have been nominated before so I won’t be choosing more nominees but I will be answering her questions and I encourage you to all go check out another blog being written from the Great White North!
1. What has been your favourite blog post that you have written so far?
I honestly had to open my blog in another window and search around for a post. I suppose Tips for Surviving a Home Shopping Party is one of my favorites since a lot of females can relate! You want to spend time with friends and also support them without breaking the bank.
2. What has been your most popular blog post that you have written so far?
Again I had to go check the stats for this one! It was How Do You Use Your Credit Cards?
3. Cats or Dogs?
I love both! But I have a kitty named Crash who’ll be interviewed on Frugalwoods soon should you want to hear all about him!
4. What is the nicest thing anyone has done for you recently?
The plow man came and plowed my driveway while I was at work. LOVE LOVE LOVE. BF pays him for it but it’s such a great thing to come home to! I might just go frolic in my driveway later.
5. What is something you have done recently that makes you proud?
Hmm…just last night I mailed off all of my info to get my free credit report from Equifax so I was pretty proud in a “look how grown up I am ordering my credit report” kind of way…
6. What is the best food you have eaten this week?
Ouuu easy! Every few month my city has an event called Chop Chop where local restaurants create a dish for a set price and a donation is made to a inner city school lunch program. Today a coworker and I went out and had a mixed greens salad with apple, blue cheese, walnuts and a house made mustard vinagrette with lobster fingers! (lobster on mini sourdough baguettes) it was delish! Then a client of ours happened to be there as well and paid for our lunch…FREE LOBSTER!
Thanks for the nomination All Around Better Me!
Hi All! I have been a little MIA lately. In the past few days we have received over 130cms of snow. YIKES! I live outside of the city however the part of the city where I work is currently in a declared state of emergency until they can get everything cleared. We’re supposed to get another ~50cms by Saturday. I’ve already had to park underground twice at work ($10 a pop) and I’ve been driving with my 4WD turned on so needless to say I’m burning gas like it’s going out of style.
I’ll be popping in soon as I’ve been nominated for another Liebster Award and while I probably won’t nominate other blogs as I’ve already done that, I can’t wait to answer the questions!
